You are correct about Sony buying a 20% stake in Square Soft back in 2001. Missed opportunity. Seriously! It has save states! The harsh truth is that Nintendo lost alot of support last gen with the Wii U. The sequel as well, translated, of course. Vita for me.

I'm excited to get a remake, even on PS4. The japanese industry is already collapsing on its own. Today this gameplay is too bland, even with the multiplayer factor. I would say it wasn't a great year for hardware sales in Japan last year, no surprise there what with wii u been a flop, vita not catching on like psp, 3ds coming to a end, ps4 been a home console, they prefer handhelds. A quick search on the official PS Blog article and I didn't find the word "exclusive" in there.

Like at the end of life of the PS2, it had a monopoly de facto and lot of development teams of great games were dismissed because when you failed on the PS2 you had no other option of a viable market. I get why some people are unhappy. Now, with stuff like this, or Soul Calibur 3, or Time Crisis 4, or the Mega Man collection, or the Disney Afternoon Collection, in these cases the games would likely work perfectly and sell the BEST on Nintendo platforms, yet third parties ignore them out of some stupid bias/prejudice/old grudge or because they get bribed.

It'll get a Switch port 6 months to a year down the road. That is not a good thing.

Like yourself i don't own a switch and maybe never will, haven't made my mind up, waiting to see what games it gets, bought a vita for Japanese niche games, it didn't let me down, Wii u was a complete let down for me apart from xeno and Pikmin, it's made me weary about Nintendo hardware, that's why i didn't buy day 1 for first time ever. @GrailUK if you've seen the original SNES instruction manual, you'll probably wish the remake was done in claymation. I can't say which ones are true and which aren't, but I know something's going on.

No Switch, but Vita gets this as its swan song? It's an update to the graphics (new tiles and palettes) and physics (enhanced regular physics and some cool new additions) of Super, and has some minor adjustments and additions to the level design. You're the only blind fanboy here claiming a company is perfect and cannot do wrong. (Oh and this game would have been better if they did HD sprites /artwork like USF2 or WB I reckon.).

That would explain both why Sony is announcing the game and the strange release choices. Sony wants the Japanese market but fear not Nintendo will reign.

I played Tree of Mana back on the GBA so playing Secret should be good. I just got to the "wall with a face" boss after meeting thanatos for the first time. If they are making a PS4/Windows version it would be very easy for them to make a Xbox One version as well, digitally at least.

Sony won't get everything, switch will have its share just like 3ds, I expect a few FF and MH games will come, maybe a new Mana game plus loads of Tecmo games plus NIS ones, the list is endless but some of them you will wish you hadn't bought like myself, most of the visual novels are rubbish with a few exceptions, better off with the Telltale novels, much better than Japanese ones.
